This Mini-Conference’s purpose is to education, provide alternatives, and give affective tactics and strategies to organize around dismantling school pushout and the school to prison pipeline.
One of the most important issues to address that are affecting youth in this country and the world is the School to Prison Pipeline. The School to Prison Pipeline is the process that youth are targeted, then pushed out of school, and then pushed in the streets to only be targeted by police, who then arrest them. Next these youth are caught in a revolving door of the criminal justice system, often never to get out. This process most often targets youth of color, specifically African-American youth. The four youth that are targeted the most are – Youth of Color, Youth with Disabilities, Youth that are LGBTTQIA, and Economically Disadvantaged Youth. Please attend this very important event to address locally in Syracuse and nationally one of the worst problems in America.
